Solicitation of Signatures and Distribution of Literature

  • Individuals or representatives of organizations seeking signatures for petitions for ballot issues, distributing literature or leaflets, or canvassing by members of the public are only permitted outside of the Library building, on the concrete pad in the bricked area that includes the bike rack as designated on the attached drawing. Petitioners are asked, as a courtesy to Library users, to approach members of the public on their way out of the Library if possible.
  • Solicitation must not interfere with entering or exiting the Library or cause a potentially hazardous situation in the parking lot. Petitioners are not allowed to block doorways, prevent patrons from getting in or out of cars, use abusive language, or behave in any way which is harassing or intimidating. Upon receiving complaints from patrons or observing problem behavior, Twinsburg Public Library supervisors will respond to the situation. Petitioners are asked to notify Library staff when they are on Library property.
  • As paid representatives of the Library, TPL staff members have an obligation to maintain the political neutrality of the Library and will refrain from active or passive campaign activities while on Library premises or on Library time.
